Consultations and Fees
1. Are you expensive?
The answer, quite simply, is yes. If we were to expound upon this, it would be to state that The Kepanis Law Firm, P.C. chooses who it represents very carefully. While most firms will represent any client that calls them, we are different. In order to give the first class service our clients deserve, desire and require, we only take on a limited number of cases each year. As such, when you retain The Kepanis Law Firm, P.C., you can be confident in knowing that your case will receive the personal attention it deserves, all the while having unfettered access to your files and your attorney at all times.
2. Do you charge a consultation fee? Why?
Yes, we charge a consultation fee of $200.00 for one hour of time. We do so because free advice is tantamount to no advice. An attorney spends countless hours studying the law in order to refine their practice. As Abraham Lincoln stated - “A lawyer’s time is his stock in trade”. Giving away free advice serves only to lessen the value of the advice actual clients pay for. In your consultation, we will listen attentively to the facts of your case. You will then be presented with the options available to you to proceed with your case. At the end of the consultation, if we feel that we would like to handle your case, we will present you with the option of signing a Retainer Agreement and Statement of Clients Rights with our firm. Once signed and your Retainer fee is presented, you will be assured that you will be receiving the first class service you deserve as a client of The Kepanis Law Firm, P.C.
3. So...what are your fees?
At The Kepanis Law Firm, P.C., we have done away with the traditional ‘bill by the hour’ type of attorney-client financial relationship for the following reasons:
a. Hourly billing puts the lawyer’s and client’s interests at odds. In the hourly billing situation, the lawyer and client have an inherent conflict of interest. The client wants the matter handled as expediently and cost effectively as possible. The lawyer has in interest in billing as many hours as possible to make more money. Surely, these disparate goals cannot coexist;
b. Hourly billing emphasizes the effort expended, not efficiency or effectiveness. In fact, hourly billing rewards inefficiency and encourages the lawyer to engage in protracted litigation; and
c. Hourly billing contributes a sense of uncertainty and frustration to the client. Clients want to know what their total fee will be up front. Without this knowledge, the client is left to estimate and guess what their final legal bill will be.
As such, The Kepanis Law Firm, P.C., in an effort to better serve our clients, has instituted a flat fee arrangement. This up front, flat fee arrangement serves our clients by allowing them to not have to worry if a quick phone call will cost them 15 minutes of time or if an attorney typing a letter will cost them another 30 minutes of time. Call or email The Kepanis Law Firm, P.C. as often as you need too, without worrying what your invoice will look like at the end of the month. Many of you will consult an attorney who quotes a low initial retainer, only to find out within a few weeks that your low initial retainer has been used up and that you are now required to put more money into your attorney’s coffers. What The Kepanis Law Firm, P.C. does for you is to give you the peace of mind that comes with knowing we will never ask you for additional legal fees beyond the flat fee. This allows us maintain the highest level of service for the limited number of clients we take on.
4. Sounds great...but what are your fees?
Unlike other firms that will try to advertise a low price...or firms that merely give price quotes, The Kepanis Law Firm, P.C. does not compete on price. Rather, any client who chooses to retain our firm, that we agree to represent, knows that first class service is not cheap service. The type of client that chooses The Kepanis Law Firm, P.C. is not trolling the Internet seeking the lowest price, they are looking for first class service. Therefore, you will not find any numbers listed here, but, if you are ready for first class service, contact us, come in, meet us, and allow us to handle your matter with the utmost professionalism, respect, and aggressiveness.
